Senso Bluetooth IPX7 Waterproof Headphones

You can buy these Sense IPX7 headphones from Amazon here.

Features:

  • Bluetooth that can connect to 2 devices at the same time
  • Waterproof
  • Battery life of 8 hours
  • Can connect to device over 30 feet away
  • Comes with:
    • Carrying case
    • Charging cord
    • Extra buds
    • Cord clip

Impression:

These earbuds are really quality, and you can get them for less than $40 on Amazon. The sound quality is great, and the headphones are surprisingly comfortable.  When I say the sound quality is great I’m not meaning they can match up to a pair of Beats or a different high end earbud, but for a pair of headphones that is under $40 these really do sound great. The buds are very comfortable and fit well in your ears, and are also waterproof so when you are working out you don’t have to worry about them shorting out from all your sweat.

These earbuds are Bluetooth, and can connect to your device up to 30 feet away, which is actually pretty impressive. The battery can last about 8 hours, but on standby can last almost 250 hours. That standby time would work great for someone like me who can never remember to charge my headphones. To charge the battery back up to full only takes a little over an hour, which is one of the fastest recharge time you will see out of all these reviews.

My Rating:

I really am a fan of these headphones. They’re inexpensive, have good sound quality, and the battery can last a long time. They may not look as stylish as a pair of Beats, or a higher end earbud, but they get the job done at a cheaper price. I give these headphones a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Anker SoundBuds Slim

You can find these earbuds on Amazon here.

Features:

  • Battery life of 7 hours
  • Waterproof
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Built in microphone
  • Comes with:
    • Extra tips
    • Extra ear hooks
    • Shirt clip
    • fit clip
    • Charging cord
    • Travel pouch

Impression:

These Ankers earbuds are another example of a good product at an affordable price. These earbuds can be 33 feet away from the device they are connected to, so if you wander away from your phone you can still listen to your music or phone call. These headphones have a 7 hour battery life, which aren’t as long as some other inexpensive headphones, but it is still a long time for earbuds to stay charged.

These wireless earbuds are less than $30, so these are definitely won’t be as good quality as Apple or Beats, but they are still pretty good. The buds fit well into your ears and are decently comfortable. There are different colors you can pick from that won’t cost you anything extra, so you can pick whatever earbud color suits your look. these babies are also waterproof, so you can work out and not worry about your sweat ruining your headphones.

My Rating:

While these are a pretty decent pair a headphones for the money, they do have some serious issues. I noticed the controls barely work, and I was not able to do anything except pause the music, and even that was iffy; I personally would go for a different pair of cheaper headphones, but that is just me. I give these earbuds a 4 out of 5 stars.

LiteXim TW-09 Earbuds

You can find these headphones on Amazon here.

Features:

  • Totally wireless
  • Case they come in is also a charger
  • 2 hour battery life
  • Comes with:
    • Case that also works as a charger
    • Different sized ear tips

Impression:

These earbuds are the first on our list to be very similar to Apple AirPods, these babies look pretty darn cool. These earbuds are truly wireless, meaning there are zero cords, not even to hold the ear buds together. These earbuds are noise cancelling, and they fit decently comfortable in your ear. The buds have controls on them, so you tab the bud in your ear and it controls different things, so you could totally look like James Bond. The battery life is pretty bad, you can only get about 2 hours with them and then they need to be recharged. A lot of people have had issues getting the buds seated fully into the charger, which is a massive issue for a product that requires charging.

Quite possibly my favorite thing about these earbuds is the amazon page for them. To advertise the company talks about sharing one earbud with your “lover”, and it is very difficult to fully understand some instructions given because of very poor translation. What’s worse is that there are instructions on the product’s Amazon page are about how to fix the charging issue some people have with them. A potential customer doesn’t want to see a fix for the headphones they haven’t purchased yet. If there is a solution, either: 1)fix the product, or 2) include instructions in the packaging for the earbuds. Other than that, these really are a decent pair of headphones that many people would like to wear.

My Rating:

If you don’t compare these earbuds to anything, they really are decent. The sound quality is awesome, but the battery life is lacking. I do think there are better earbuds for around the same price, but again, these are not that bad. I give these buds a 3 out of 5 stars.

Skullcandy Ink’d S2IKW-J509

You can buy these earbuds from Amazon here.

Features:

  • Very lightweight
  • 8 hour battery life
  • Built in microphone
  • Comes with:
    • Charging cord
    • Extra earbuds

Impression:

I actually already own a pair of these and I love them. These Skullcandy earbuds are very lightweight and they sound incredible. They have an 8 hour battery life, and I have never had them die on me when I’m using them. The buds themselves are very soft and comfortable, and do not bother my ears like other earbuds do. Another thing I love about these earbuds is how lightweight they are. The earbuds are 24 grams, light enough to forget about them while you are on your jog or while you are at work.

These earbuds are less than $40, so you really do get a lot of bang for your buck.

My Rating:

As an long-time owner of these headphones, I can say with confidence that they really are great. They’re comfortable and the battery can last for 8 hours. I give these Skullcandy earbuds a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Focuspower F10

You can purchase these F10s on Amazon here.

Features:

  • Very compact
  • 7 hour battery life
  • Can be connected to 2 devices simultaneously
  • Comes with:
    • Carrying case
    • Magnetic charger
    • Extra era tips

Impression:

Now this is very different than the others on the list because this is 1 earbud, not 2. Now it isn’t a huge problem, and the sound is still awesome. In fact, I kind of prefer this one earbud to the similar pair above because these are better quality, and the battery life is considerably better. The magnetic charging is also pretty cool and is very smart; it helps you know that it is, in fact, charging unlike the other pair of earbuds.

My Rating:

I really like this earbud, and think it deserves a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Phaiser BHS-730

You can buy these Phaiser earbuds on amazon here.

Features:

  • Magnetic earbuds that connect together
  • Waterproof AND waterproof warranty
  • Comes with:
    • Extra ear tips
    • Extra ear hooks
    • Charging cord
    • Carrying case

Impression:

These earbuds are actually some of my favorite earbuds on the list, and the best part is that they are really awesome earbuds for less than $45.  The ends of the buds are magnetic, so you can clip them around your neck so you don’t lose them. These are also waterproof, so they’ll survive your sweat when you are working out. The ear wings help keep the earbuds actually in your ears, so you can feel assured these won’t pop out for any reason. They are very lightweight and won’t get easily tangled up.

My Rating:

I really am a fan of these headphones, and they are really at an incredible price. I give these headphones a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Warning Sign for Under $100

LG Tone Pro HBS-760

You can purchase these LG earbuds from Amazon here.

Features:

  • Microphone
  • Media controls
  • Voice controls
  • Comes with:
    • Charging cord
    • Extra earbuds

Impression:

I have seen these headphones listed on multiple different wireless earbud reviews, and I honestly am not positive I agree. Yes, these are nice headphones for less than $45, and they are a good name brand, but a lot of the reviews are saying that after a couple months the earbuds just completely stopped working. A lot of people talked about how these headphones start off fantastic, then after a month or two they just totally crap out.

Why is it on the list?:

We included this for one reason: because these earbuds are included on quite a few “best of” lists, and we thought we should warn others.

My Rating:

I’m giving these earbuds a 3 out of 5 stars.

Best Wireless Headphones for less than $200

JayBird X3

You can purchase these JayBirds on Amazon here.

Features:

  • 8 hour battery life
  • 4 different colors to choose from (the red is beautiful)
  • Small and compact design
  • Can be used either over-ear or under-ear
  • Can get the app on your iOS or Android device
  • Comes with:
    • Charging cord
    • Extra ear tips
    • Extra ear hooks
    • Clip
    • Carrying bag

Impression:

These are my favorite earbuds on this entire list. They are lightweight, compact, and sound absolutely incredible. The ear hooks help keep the buds securely in your ears, so you don’t have to worry about your ear buds poppin’ out while you are working out or running. These buds are very lightweight, you won’t even think about them being around your neck. The sound quality is extremely impressive, and these earbuds block a lot of noise.

The JayBird app is a pretty nifty, optional, app you can get on your phone. With it you can adjust the settings on your earbuds, and even get some songs and music to listen to while you are exercising or working out. By no means is this app a necessity, it is just a cool thing to have to accompany your headphones.

My Rating:

Like I said before, I really am a fan of these headphones. They sound awesome, they are lightweight, and they actually stay in your ears. I think these earbuds deserve a 5 out of 5 stars.

Bose SoundSport

You can check out these Bose SoundSport earbuds on Amazon here for less than $200.

Features:

  • Water and weather proof
  • 6 hour battery life
  • Microphone
  • Can get a charging case (for more money)
  • Can get an app for your iOS or Android device
  • Comes with:
    • Extra ear tips
    • Extra ear hooks
    • Charging cord
    • Carrying case

Impressions:

Bose is typically pretty overpriced, and unfortunately these earbuds are slightly spendy, but are also very good quality. You do have a few color options, including black, blue, yellow, and red (for $50 more), so you can choose the pair that matches you and your personality best. The buds themselves are super comfy, and they do block out noise very well (even if the earbuds are not noise cancelling).

Yes, these headphones are decently expensive, however the sound quality is phenomenal. These actually have better sound quality than the JayBirds above (but that is just my opinion). While that sound is great, I can honestly say the high price tag is ridiculous. So if you buy these headphones, you really are just buying the Bose logo. While these Soundsports are expensive, the app you can get on your device is pretty cool. The app allows you to switch between devices and you can personalize the settings for your head phones. If I am being honest, the app for the JayBirds are a bit better because you can do more with it and the user face is a little more simplified.

My Rating:

Are these earbuds worth the hefty price tag? Ultimately, that is up to you. I personally like the JayBirds better than these Bose because the price is reasonable, and they sound similar. Taking price out of equation these are great headphones and would be nice to have. I’ll give these buds a 4 out of 5 stars.

Rowkin Bit Charge Stereo

You can buy these Rowkin earbuds on Amazon here for less than $135.

Features:

  • Truly wireless
  • Built in microphone
  • 3 hour battery life
  • Voice activated
  • Waterproof
  • Can use simultaneously
  • Comes with:
    • Charger case
    • Charging cable
    • Replacement ear tips

Impression:

Now these are some awesome earbuds that will cost you less than $135. These buds can be used simultaneously, meaning one bud can have music going while the other bud can be used in a phone call, or whatever you want to use it for. You can also have one earbud connected to one device and have the other bud connected to a different device. This allows you more freedom and lets you do whatever it is you want to do. These earbuds also have voice recognition, so you can use Siri or whomever directly through your earbud.

One of the best things about these earbuds is actually the charging case for the buds. The case not only charges you earbuds, it also works as a portable power pack so you can also charge your phone up! It really is a brilliant idea, so after you jam to your music you can charge both your buds and your phone. They advertise that the charger can give your iPhone one full charge, so it can’t necessarily charge a super long time, but one full charge is impressive since it also charges up some earbuds.

My Rating:

These are a great pair of earbuds, and if you are looking for a truly wireless experience then these are a great idea for you. these earbuds have over 1,100 reviews on Amazon, and have a decently high rating. I give these buds a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Apple Airpods

You can check out these Apple Airpods on Apple’s website here for less than $160.

Features:

  • Truly wireless
  • Siri integration
  • 5 hour listening battery life
  • 15 minute charging time
  • Connects to Apple products automatically
  • Comes with:
    • Charging case

Impression:

What kind of wireless earbud article would this be without featuring the Apple Airpods? Not a great one! Are these headphones overpriced? Maybe, hard to say. Are these good for Apple Fans? Yup. Are Android users and Apple haters gonna hate me and get triggered? Possibly!

Typically Apple products are more expensive, but it might shock you to learn that these are actually cheaper than the Bose earbuds above, so take that into consideration. These are a great pair of earbuds for anyone who owns Apple products because they automatically pair to your devices.

Now down to the nitty-gritty. These buds have a 6 hour battery life, which is the longest life of any truly wireless earbud on this list. The case doubles as a charger, just like the others on this list. The Airpods are extremely comfortable and are easily something you can wear all day if you want to. They are also very lightweight and have extremely high-quality speakers. These babies recognize motion as well as speech, so they are extremely intuitive and can recognize your voice. These buds also automatically turn on, which is super neat.

My rating:

I am a pretty big Apple fan, and these are one of those products that Apple fans will love. I am a massive fan of these Airpods, as are many other users. These buds get a 5 out of 5 stars.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC40BT

You can check out, and purchase, these Audio-Technicas on Amazon here for less than $120.

Features:

  • Noise-cancelling
  • Can connect to 2 devices simultaneously
  • Comes with a cable in case battery dies
  • Built-in microphone
  • Over 8 hour battery life
  • Comes with:
    • Extra ear tips
    • Charging cable
    • Carrying case
    • Airplane adapter

Impression:

When I think about the premiere sound experience, I think about Audio-Technica and Sennheiser. They have been in the audio business for over 50 years and make some of the best headphones I have ever experienced. These earbuds are no exception to that high quality audio experience. The sound quality in these earbuds is phenomenal, and they are noise-cancelling, so you’ll get an overall great listening experience. The ear tips are also very comfortable and you can leave them in all day without your ears hurting. A note on the noise cancelling aspect: it won’t be as great as what a wired pair of headphones are, so don’t expect a true noise cancelling experience. Many times a wired pair of noise cancelling headphones need a battery to truly kill ambient noise around you.

They are very lightweight, so you can have them around your neck for the day and they won’t bug you. These are a great pair of headphones for working out at the gym, on a flight, at work, or just for whenever you want to listen to music. These Audio-Technicas will stay in your ears and won’t pop out for any odd reason. What’s more, if the battery dies on you the can connect to your device with a 3.5mm cable, which is the standard in all phones.

My rating:

These are a great pair of headphones for any activities you might do throughout the day. These earbuds deserve a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Sennheiser HD1 In-Ear Wireless

You can check out this beautiful headset on Amazon here for less than $200.

Features:

  • Instant pairing with NFC Bluetooth
  • Media controls
  • Built in microphone
  • Connect to 2 devices simultaneously
  • 10 hour battery life
  • Comes with:
    • USB charging cord
    • Extra ear tips
    • Case

Impression:

Out of all the earbuds and headphones on this list, I think these are the prettiest ones. Sennheiser is another premiere audio brand, and these earbuds are high quality. Now this is very important: These are not meant for sports or exercising. These earbuds are simply for listening to music and not working out and sweating. These are not waterproof, so be careful.

The sound quality in these babies is astounding; they have perfect sound and the bass is not too strong nor too subtle. Out of all the earbuds on this list, these have some of the best sound quality you will find. The battery life is also great with over 10 hours of listening time. They are also beautiful looking, and just look classy. Now these headphones are not for everyone. These are perfect for people who love great audio quality and who don’t plan to use these for exercising. If you are looking for an earbud that you can exercise in, check out the others on this list.

My rating:

These Sennheiser earbuds are absolutely incredible and are a must have for any Audio-phile. While they aren’t necessarily geared towards exercising, they are still incredibly useful for work, school, or anything you might do on a daily basis. These headphones very easily snag a 5 out of 5 stars, but they are certainly not for everyone.

Wireless Headphones

Now that we have looked at many wireless earbuds, let’s turn our attention towards some great over-the-ear, and on-the-ear, wireless headphones. The headphones on this list may not be best for exercising, but they are still great headphones to have around.

Skullcandy Hesh 2

You can purchase these headphones on Amazon here for less than $70.

Features:

  • 12 hours battery life
  • Built in microphone
  • Noise isolating
  • Comes with:
    • Charging cord
    • Extra 3.5 mm cable  in case battery dies
    • Bag to keep it in

Impression:

I have actually owned these headphones for about a year, and absolutely love them. They are ridiculously comfortable and they sound great. I often use them with the 3.5 mm cable because it makes them a bit louder, but the wireless feature is fine too. Now these are over-the-ear headphones, but work best if you have smaller ears, like I do. I can keep these on for hours without them getting uncomfortable because they are lightweight and have memory foam padding. Now these are decently bulky and they don’t fold up, so you will notice them in you carry them in a bag or purse.

My rating:

These are great for people who want a good quality sound but who don’t want to break the bank. I give these headphones a 4 out of 5 stars purely because they are bulky and the wireless option isn’t quite as loud as the wired option.

Skullcandy Crusher Wireless

You can check out these Crusher headphones on Amazon here for less than $170.

Features:

  • Can fold up to store easier
  • 40 hour battery life
  • Memory foam cushions
  • Stereo haptic bass switch (you can see it on the picture above)
  • Media controls
  • Built in microphone
  • Comes with:
    • USB charging cord
    • 3.5 mm cable in case battery dies
    • Travel bag

Impression:

These are some high end Skullcandy headphones, and are really some of the best Skullcandy headphones on the market. The sound quality is really great, and they are extremely comfortable to wear. They do fold up, unlike the Hesh 2, so they can be stored a little easier. I have noticed with headphones that fold some don’t feel sturdy, but these Crushers are very sturdy and solid feeling. Some claim in the reviews that the sound quality is better when you have these connected via BlueTooth, but I have never tried them wired so I can’t corroborate their claims. The battery life on these headphones are honestly incredible. They can last 40 hours, meaning you can use these for five days a week, 8 hours a day and not have to charge them once. It’s convenient that it just happens to be the length of time most people work for.

Some of y’all might be curious what “stereo haptic bass” means. It basically means that each ear has its own bass, so you can feel your music, not just hear it. It gives a much better listening experience, and can please any audio-phile.

My Rating:

These are a great pair of solid headphones. The sound quality is incredible, and the wireless feature sounds great. These headphones deserve a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Sennheiser HD1 Wireless Headphones

You can purchase these Sennheiser HD1s on Amazon here for less than $500.

Features:

  •  Noise cancelling
  • 22 hour battery life
  • 3.5 mm cable included if battery dies
  • Has 2 microphones built in
  • Foldable for easy storage
  • Comes with:
    • 3.5 mm cable
    • USB charging cord
    • Airplane adapter
    • Carrying pouch

Impression:

These Sennheiser HD1s are the most expensive headphone on this list, coming in just under $500. So, needless to say, this is for the most hardcore audio-philes out there. The sound quality is incredible, and the headphones themselves fit and feel great. They connect very quickly to any of your devices, so your music is always close by whenever you might need it. These will basically block out any and all ambient sound, so be aware of your surroundings and what is going on around you. There are 2 microphones because Sennheiser realized that 2 mics would pick up more and therefore the sound for the person on the end is better.

My rating:

These are super pricey, and by no means would an average Joe walk up and buy these headphones on the fly. But if you love music and are a total audio-phile, you will probably want to at least check these out. I’m giving these a 4.5 out of 5 stars purely because they are so darn expensive.

What To Look For

Now that we have given you a super long list of great headphones, we thought it would be best to go over how to choose the perfect pair. Here are some tips and things to look at before buying a pair of headphones:

Comfort:

One of the most important things to look at is how comfortable those headphones are. Now sometimes you can’t always try headphones on, so this can be tricky. The way I judge it is if I can’t actually try them out in person I read the reviews. If a general consensus if that those headphones are comfy you can typically estimate. Another thing to look for is if the earbuds come with different sized ear tips, that way you can adjust what is comfortable in your ear.

If you are buying a pair of headphones that go over, or on, your ears then you can estimate the size of your ear and know if you want on the ear headphones versus over the ear headphones. On the ear pads literally sit on your ear and are not always comfy, especially if you wear glasses. Over the ear pad fit around your ear, so your entire ear is surrounded by the padding on the headphone.

Sound Quality:

If you spend any money on headphones you probably want decent sound quality, so this is another pretty important thing to consider when purchasing headphones. As you can tell from this list, sound really does vary with the price of something, so make sure you aren’t expecting high quality sound from a $5 pair of earbuds. Again, if you can’t actually test out some headphones the best place to look for the sound quality is on the internet. People are typically honest in reviews, and if you can get a lot of reviews on a product you can find the “average” take on quality sound.

The JayBirds in the list are a good example of this because darn near all the reviewers talk about how good the sound quality is. The majority of the people are verified buyers, meaning that they have purchased that specific product off Amazon. Another good place to look is the website cNet (found here). They have multiple reviews on headphones, so chances are good that they will have reviewed the specific headphones you’re looking at. You can also base your search off of lists and reviews that talk about the best sounding headphones. Point is, there are many ways to know about the sound quality of a pair of headphones if you can’t hear it for yourself.

Price:

This one does somewhat go without saying. If you buy a pair of $10 headphones you really should not expect sheer perfection. A good price range for headphones is between $30 and $150 if you aren’t necessarily a massive audio geek. If you are, then you probably aren’t reading these tricks and tips since you probably already know. Typically the best price you will find is on Amazon, but sometimes there are exceptions to that rule. A great idea is to go to your local electronic store to see what they are charging. Some companies will price match Amazon (like Best Buy) so you can actually see these items in person instead of just seeing it online.

Some of the best headphones I’ve ever purchased cost between $40 up to $80 and I always wore those pairs down so much I killed them after years of getting some good tunes out of them.

Brand:

While some people think that the brand of something is important, it isn’t always the case. Bose is a company that is very over priced, but are well known. A regular dude can purchase a pair of Bose because he recognizes the name but might not have gotten the best headphones for the price. With that said, there are reputable brands out there that are generally trustworthy. All in all, it does come down to user preference. I am an Apple fan so I trust them, whereas someone may not like them and may not trust them.

when it comes to headphones there are nice, high end brands like Sennheiser and Audio-Technica, but those are generally more expensive and an average person might not have the money to spend on them. It is all based on your preference and experience with products.

Use:

This is another big one: what are you using these headphones for? Are you wanting a pair just to work out in, or are you looking for an audio experience? A lot of these headphones on our list are not made to be exercised in, they are either made for convenience or are for a musical experience. Please don’t exercise in a super expensive pair of headphones then complain and cry about them breaking. It’s like taking a Prius out off-roading; everything has its own specific use. We made a nifty table above that can tell you whether or not that specific earbud is meant to be used when exercising or not, so plan your purchase accordingly.

Genre of Music:

finally we get to what genre of music you will be primarily listening to. No, there aren’t headphones made specifically for a specific genre, but they can cater to genres. Some headphones have extra bass for rock and pop songs, whereas others have bass a little more scaled back for classical or country music. That is why those apps that can control settings for headphones are so cool; you can mess with the settings to make sure your music fits you and your style best. So far JayBirds and Bose are the only companies that I have personally experienced to do this, but I am sure there are many more companies out there that do this too. If not, then that might very well be the next innovation in wireless headphones.

If y’all can think of any other great wireless earbuds write about them down below in the comments and tell us about them!
