When it comes to television sets, specifically, it is important to make an informed decision. Why? Because not only is there so much choice available but because most people have a very special relationship with their TV.

Part of this is also the fact that we live in what many TV critics have labeled the golden age of television. Television is now better than ever and there are so many platforms offering exciting original programming that you just need a television set that would make all that content justice.

So, whether you enjoy free over-the-air television; premium or basic cable programming; or streaming from the likes of Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon video; doing your homework before buy will no doubt pay off.

This article is the only thing you will really need to do because you have to do. We know how hard it can be to research products on the Internet. We have done all the research so you do not have to.

In this buying comparison, we review the LG and Vizio TV so you can make your own personal decision on which brand would be better suited for you.

Instead of looking at each of those two brands separately, we will be looking at different features and comparing them so you can easily go through the pros and cons of these two brands.

Let’s face it when it comes to getting a new TV the single thing that most users care about is picture quality. So, let’s begin by looking at how picture quality compares.

Which TV Has The Best Picture Quality?

There is no single and simple answer to that question. Picture quality is actually made out of different components. So, it is always a good idea to look at how those components compare one by one.

How about Black Levels and Contrast?

Vizio is the superior model when it comes to black levels and contrast. There is a richness to black tones that in turn makes the colors more vibrant. This has a huge positive impact on picture quality.

LG TV’s black levels are somewhat inferior as a result of having a superior viewing when it comes to a single angle.

How about Color Rendition?

Again, Vizio is slightly better when it comes to color rendition. What makes it superior is precisely the richness and depth of its blacks.

LG TV renders color in a less vibrant way but it gets point for how accurately it renders them.

How about Side Angle Quality?

This is the one component of picture quality in which the LG TV is superior. Because LG uses an IPS panel, you would get a wider viewing angle that does not impact picture quality at all.

The Vizio TV still has a side angle quality.

How about Standard Definition (SD)?

In this day and age, many people neglect 480p and 480i because they think that Standard Definition (SD) is a thing of the past.

But they would be neglected to consider 480p and 480i at their own peril because not every piece of film and television content is available in High Definition (HD), let alone Ultra High Definition (UHD).

Just consider that not all cable or over-the-air channels are available in High Definition. Also if you still watch DVDs, you would need a TV that has a decent 480p and 480i picture quality.

The best quality and upscaling no doubt belongs LG TV.

If you tried to watch Standard Definition content, whether from a streaming platform, cable or broadcast television, or DVD, it will not be as crisp as what you would get playing the same content on the LG TV. The Vizio is definitely not recommended for 480p and 480i content.

Which TV Has The Best Features?

Now that we have gone through the all-important picture quality, we are in a position to discuss all the other features for both TVs.

Although the picture quality is probably the deal breaker there are many other features that you should consider. This is particularly important when it comes to comparing these two TVs because, with all the differences that I have pointed out before, the picture quality is not all that different in this case.

How about 3D?

Both TVs have models that are compatible with 3D content. If you are interested in having a TV that is compatible with that type of content, you should make sure that you pick out a model that is compatible with 3D.

How about Sound Quality?

Sound quality is probably the one thing that most people take for granted. In other words, most users only notice the importance of sound quality when they are confronted with poor sound quality.

When it comes to sound quality, the LG TV comes clearly on top. The voice definition is amazing. But its superiority is not just on voice definition. LG TVs also have richer bass and general clarity.

The sound quality of Vizio TV is, by comparison, quite lacking. There is a noticeable lowering of sound quality and clarity as you increase the volume. This is a major con when it comes to Vizio TVs.

How about Remote Control?

The way we operate our TVs these days is largely through remote controls. Having a good and resilient clicker is super important.

Again, this is one of the main pros of LG TVs. Many models include voice control so that you can operate your TV by talking into your remote control, instead of clicking on it.

Even, using the remote control the more traditional way is a pleasure. Accessing all menus is really simple and intuitive.

Although the Vizio menus are also simple and relatively easy to access, the remote control is too small, which can make it hard for some people to operate.

How about Wi Fi?

In the age of smart TV, many people expect their TV sets to be able to access their Wi Fi network and have an Internet browser.

Once again, LG TVs also come on top when it comes to this. Apart from having a good Wi Fi connection, thanks to voice control, using the inbuilt Internet browser could not be any easier!

Vizio TVs do not have web browsers and, unfortunately, their Wi Fi connections at not great, either.

How about Design?

You may be one of those people who purport not to care about how their TVs look like. But, if you think about it for a hot second, you would realize that TVs are one of the most prominent elements in any room where they are present.

So, you want to make sure that your TV fits into the room. One of the best ways to do this is to ensure that you buy a TV with a minimal design. In other words, you want a TV that is not going to stand out too much.

No TV has a better design than LG TVs. Certainly, not Vizio TVs.

Vizio TVs, no matter the model or actual price, are probably the most cheap-looking TVs available in the marketplace today.

How about Apps?

If you want to have easy and simple access to your favorite streaming apps from your smart TV, then you should look into LG TVs.

“Why not premiere movies on Netflix the same day they’re opening in theaters? Listen to the consumer; give the consumer what they want.” – Ted Sarandos

LG TVs are the best when it comes to apps because of their WebOS that gives users access to the best streaming apps around, including:

Vizio TVs, on the other hand, are some of the worst TVs for apps. Although its app selection has gotten better, it is extremely lacking in comparison.

How about value for money?

Although generally speaking, LG TVs tend to be considerably more expensive than their Vizio counterparts, LG TVs are clearly better value for money because of their host of superior features.

So, going through all of these pros and cons, it seems clear that LG TVs are better than Vizio TVs. Unless price is your only consideration, LG TVs are definitely the best option.
